The RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) program is a journey of faith for everyone who wishes to grow in their relationship with God, become familiar with Catholic teachings and practices, and a desire to become Catholic; and for baptized Christians who wish to come into full communion with the Church.
Reasons to Consider the Catholic Faith
Church is not a building – Church is a family! Where in today’s world do we meet with people just for the
sake of hanging out? Just to make friends? Just to help? Just to connect? Most of the time we get together, it’s for work. Or at the mall, or something like a movie or a game. At church, it’s more than just being part
of a crowd. At church, it’s about community.
We know there’s something more to life…but often, we cannot quite put our finger on it. It has to be more
than just chores and tasks that make up everyday existence. The Church can offer us a deeper perspective
on life, and not only for now, but for ever, for eternity.
We get advice from everywhere today, whether it’s TV telling us how to cook rice or the internet
promising to make us rich. The Church gives us a different source of wisdom, the Word of God, deep
enough to touch us and powerful enough to change us.
With all the running around we do, we hardly get a moment for ourselves. Going to church affords a chance for quiet, a time to reflect on the deeper things of life. And a chance for us to find peace through forgiveness.
So many directions and so many conflicting pieces of advice, and yet we feel we have so much to carry in
life. Our children, our spouses, our elderly parents. Where do we get support in life? Perhaps we feel alone needlessly because we have not taken advantage of all the help that can come from the Christian Catholic faith and from a people of faith.
What is the RCIA
The RCIA program is a journey of faith for everyone who has a wish to grow in their relationship with
God, become familiar with Catholic teachings and practices, and has a desire to come into full communion
with the Catholic Church. An RCIA Team uses Sacred Scripture, discussion, and Catholic teaching to help you grow in your faith. The RCIA Team walks right with you in your faith journey and formation.
During your journey, you will be prepared to receive the Sacraments of Baptism, Holy Eucharist, and
Confirmation. Moreover, through the witness and prayers of the parish community, RCIA prepares you to enter a deeper relationship with Our Lord Jesus Christ.
